A flashback to warmer nights and longer days
Serendipity

A sun drenched, rain free weekend
A step out of the blue
An awkward zone without friends,
yet still one sneaks on through

A face that shouldn't be there
A place I've never been
A space, a scarecrow... compere,
to chaperone the scene

A blackbird scared, ecstatic
A mess of feathers torn
A tale quilled erratic,
three days stretched, dusk till dawn

A hot day... nights forsaken
A perfect moment caught
A chance shot long, not taken,
with goods left never bought

A fantasy made fabric
A bell that tolled for me
A route pitched so fantastic,
for a site I'd like to see

An unexpected maiden
An Angel so misled
A laugh that peels, laden,
with backs ran rouge and red

A fear that awakens
A treasured confidante
A chance I wished I'd taken
… opportunities I can't

A letter never noted
A word that never formed
A sentence scorned, demoted,
paragraphs lost in the storm

A storm I turned my back to
A summer wind, blown warm
A storm I should've danced through,
lost seasons flown and formed...

to rainy windswept weekends,
A message never sent,
A postcard written on the wind,
with chances long gone... spent
