A Lesson Learned Too Late In Life
So sweet,
the memories you gave me.
So bright,
the times we’ve had.
Don’t think I wanna leave yet,
but I know I gotta go.
Dark times are near,
can’t you feel it in the air?
I think I am just going to hold these,
just for a while.
Maybe toss them in my hand a bit.
I hope I meant something,
I never wanted to leave.
I was going to hold onto the memories we made,
but it seems they’ve gone away.
I swear I put them in my back pocket,
but they’re lost,
they didn’t want to stay.
Dark times are coming fast,
and now there is nothing left to say.
I wish I still had those happy memories
to guide me through the dark,
but I guess they slipped out of my back pocket,
and lost they will stay.
