An exercise in metaphor for my creative writing class! Kinda funny... also I'm a rug.
Would I be a dirty rug?
One people used to walk all over but now respect?
Do you think I smell weird? My owner thought it built character.
Is it weird that I relish just lying,
Still as a rock on the cold wooden floor keeping it warm?
Do you think I smell weird? My owner knew it built character.
She found comfort in me in my days in the sun,
But what if the lack of feet on my face isn’t such a sign of respect—
Maybe I just need a shower.
