a mothers grief
Theres a pain in my chest
An ache i never
Thought id feel

The time is flying
and im lost
Where did it all go
So wrong.

This stabbing in my soul
Steals my breath
Making my nose run
And my eyes leak

I carried you in my womb
I grew you
You were quieted
By the thumping of my heart
And the whoosh
Of my lungs filling

I heard your first laugh
Saw your first
In everything.

And now my arms
They are empty
And filled with the longing
To fill you wrapped in them.

I pray for the day
When you return to me
And sink
Into me for the comfort
I once was.
