Fixing Things

“Wait, wait!” Ted called, “I forgot something.”

“Come on! We’re gonna be late again!”

“I’m coming, I’ll just be a sec!”

“We don’t have a sec!” Jeff revved the car, “We don’t have time for this.”

Ted jumped in the car, “So, go!”

“I’m gonna have to speed to get there in time now, we’re always late, and this time it’s your fault!”

“Sorry, it was important!”

“Well, if I get a ticket, you’re paying for it!”

“You won’t get a ticket. Nobody ever even drives on this road but us.”

“Well, what was so very important that you’d make us late, again?”

“Cookies.”

“Cookies?”

“Mom made her chocolate chip cookies, she left a bag for me.”

“Open them!”

He opened the bag. “Crap! This is the wrong bag! This is Jeremy’s lunch! It doesn’t even have one cookie in it ‘cause Jeremy’s allergic to chocolate. Hey! What are you doing?” he yelled as Jeff slammed on the brakes.

“Turning around!”

“But we’re already late!”

“But, your mother’s chocolate chip cookies!”

“Right...” they went back.

And things were once again, right in the world.
