A metaphor, of sorts, for the Aurora Borealis; the "Northern Lights"
Lady of the night I wait for you, perched secretly in the dark. Your presence has long eluded me as I’ve searched for you in vain. After years you arrive unexpectedly, but I yet remain hidden from your view. Your brilliance and energy are like a powerful drug and I stare, mesmerized, as you dance to music only you can hear; trailing behind you sparkling ribbons of red, yellow, green and blue. For hours I watch you, unable to tear myself away. Your mere presence stirs my imagination and fills my soul with wonder. And then, as quickly as you appear – you are gone, faded into the night – and I am left with a feeling of restlessness and awe.
