Is moving on possible? Are memories enough to make up for loss? Do the memories last?
There’s a lake made for you
Full of memories of what was
And it is warm and it is golden
It is full, but now it’s broken

Cause since you left the lake is toxic
Littered with my guilt and my sins
Regrets that make me sick.
I still see the gold, but I don’t really want to reach within

I’m never gonna not feel bruised
Missing a whole damn part of you
Memories they just don’t last
Memories don’t replace the one that’s passed

Cause you were here and now you gone
And now everyone says that I should move on
And I don’t really know what that means
I’m not really sure of anything

Time has passed and the memories ripple
A rock thrown in your lake
I burned myself to reach
And the gold still flickered away

Faded, faded and now it’s copper
Once so bright and now so dim
They say it’s time to move on
But how do I move on when I loved where I have been?

Cause I’m never gonna not feel bruised
Missing a whole damn part of you
Memories they just don’t last
Memories don’t replace the one that’s passed

Cause you were here and now you gone
And now everyone says that I should move on
But I don’t really know what that means
I’m not really sure of anything

Im not sure of anything

Cause the water turned copper
And now I know I’ll never feel proper
A person versus a lake
You are something memories can’t replace

I’m never gonna not feel bruised
Missing a whole damn part of you
Memories they just don’t last
Memories don’t replace the one that’s passed

Cause you were here and now you gone
And now everyone says that I should move on
But I don’t really know what that means
I don’t really know anything

Never gonna not feel bruised
Always gonna miss the whole damn part of you
These memories will have to last
I’ll hold on to them until it’s me that’s passed
