mental illness has no mercy
I kept to the shadow
Dark, no windows
Covered if they’re there
Never leave my darkness

Visiting or visitors
Avoiding and avoided
Stay in my darkness
Deep, so as to not freeze
Deep to stay cool in my skins

Shedding skins over time
Staying deep for balance
Staying away in my hiding
Hidden, living off myself

Hear only noises, rarely see
See the source
Don’t think much of what
What caused noises
People? I go deeper still

Dreading inevitability
Must shed my skin
Have to, growing
Choice of? no must

Itching pain, desire
Pushing, forcing me
Must leave the deep dark
have to go into the light

Noises and causes
Avoiding is purpose
Avoiding has worked
Now molting, can't avoid it
I will not survive this

There is not any new skin left
