just thoughts
I never really learned my right from my left
Sure if I'm writing I know the pen is in my right hand
But driving and following directions those words mean nothing

Both hands look like an L to me so that old trick doesn't work
I haven't quite figured out anything else that works
So I rely heavily on my phone and before that I just got lost

These days though I feel back to being a kid
I don't quite mind getting lost or not turning on my GPS
Without you here with me time doesn't feel the same

I long for it to stop
Like maybe down these long winding roads there's an end
Where I can meet you again without dying myself

You always knew where to go
You navigated me through the busy city the busses and the trains and the car rides
I'm lost without you

You always knew when to get on and get off and where to turn
You could tell me about buildings that used to exist or different things that had once occupied where we were
This city was yours and I was just passing through it

I should've asked you more questions about your childhood your past
I should've asked you to show me how to find my way on my own
I just never thought I'd lose you

Now as I stumble about a city I should know
I try to remember every word you ever said
But I know that's impossible so I just end up going left
