A poem about a walk in the night
A Midnight Stroll

My shadow follows me,

Under the pale of moonlight.

I'm surrounded by silence,

A silence of anxiety.

I hear no voices,

I see no faces,

I smell only the acid of the previous rain.

An owl hoots in the distance,

Crickets chirp away.

I glance to my right, through the woods,

Ominously, it feels so forbidden.

A street light buzzes and flickers,

Up ahead, a signal light remains glowing green.

Soon I must retrace my steps back home,

At the door, my shadow will remain.
