A poem about a college event I went to... and unfortunately quickly left, as well.
This is a work in progress, please keep that in mind as you review this piece.

I drink the bright lights and bask in the fake champagne
I ignore my error and

I ignore my hands
They’re shaking again
Not out of anger
But because the medicine I swallow
Fights my insides

I ignore my
Inability to speak

I ignore the eyes
I peel them
Off of my skin
Drown them in the drinks

I ignore the growing urge
To sink into the floor
Of the gym
Become nothing
But a spot of
Yellow

I ignore my friends
And run to the bathroom
The mirror says
I need to go home
The mirror also says
I am selfish

I do not ignore the mirror
I leave in a hurry
I walk home in silence

Drip
Drip
Drip
There are tears on the sidewalk
