My silly take on today's Writer's Cramp prompt. 9/1
Sitting in this subway car
just trying to get to work,
hoping I make it there on time
‘cause my boss is kind of a jerk.
When deep within the tunnel
the train comes to a stop,
things go dark and people gasp—
now they wanna get off.
Folks get antsy really quick
and wonder what to do;
I’m just thinking I’m gonna be late,
I’ve got luck like a pile of poo.
Then things get crazy really fast
in the middle of this breakdown:
a ghost appears upon the train
and says he’s headed downtown!
He’s been trying to get to work
for at least the last half hour;
there’s a building he needs to haunt
it looks kind of like Sears Tower.
People scream upon the sight
of this little ghostly man;
they wanna run away from him,
run as fast as they possibly can!
But the spirit here before us
raises up his hands
and tells the crowd to calm on down
he’ll help us as he can.
He puts his hands upon the doors
which emit a glowy light
then suddenly the train car groans
but the engine roars back to life!
Then once again we’re moving along
faster than the speed of light,
we make it to our destinations
on time and fully alright.
The ghost reports to work, it seems,
to haunt the Sears-like tower;
I make it to work right on time
and avoid my boss’s glower.
