Mrs. Linden springs a pop quiz on her fifth-grade class.
A or B
WC 213

"I know it's Friday and you are all excited about your weekend, class, but before you go,” Mrs. Linden said, “I am giving a short pop quiz on what we discussed yesterday: words that sound the same but are spelled differently.

The fifth-grade class let out a collective “groan!”

Johnny bit his upper lip. He hadn't paid attention yesterday, too excited thinking about this weekend’s camping trip with his dad.

Mrs. Linden handed out the quiz to the fifth graders.

"I'm setting the timer for three minutes," she said as she turned the knob. "Begin."

Johnny looked over the questions and lifted his pen.

No sweat.

1. We are having apple pie for ______.
A. Desert
B. Dessert
Johnny chose B: We are having apple pie for dessert.

2. Did you go _____ yesterday?

A. There
B. Their.
Johnny chose A: Did you go there yesterday?

3. I think you made the _____ decision.
A. Write
B. Right

I think you made the write decision.

Seriously? We’re not in third grade.

Johnny chose B: I think you made the right decision.

The timer dinged.

The bell rang.

Johnny hurried out of the classroom. His dad would be waiting out front. It would be just Johnny and his dad for the whole weekend.

Yay!
