Words can hurt but those that are unsaid hurt even more.

The Unsaid

In the quiet places, secrets are kept,
Where deep words can sting and have often wept.
The things we say can hurt and leave a mark,
But hidden wounds are deeper when left in the dark.

There's a kind of silence that speaks louder than sound,
An empty space where true pain is found.
More than any word, it's what we don't say,
That lights up the truth in a powerful way.

The things we hold back hurt worse than angry shouts,
They haunt us quietly and plant seeds of doubts.
These silent thoughts feel so real and near,
They cut through the heart, and the pain is clear.

In every argument, our eyes give us away,
They speak of the words our mouths don't say.
A quick smirk, a thought, should I say it or not?
Should I make him fee like a dog?.

I don't want to fight, even though you push me,
Backed into a corner where no one can see.
You push me to the edge, and I want to shout,
But I keep the words in; I don't let them out.

Because I know too well, if I let them fly,
You'd turn them against me, and that's why.
I keep it all in, let the silence grow loud,
A void created by the unsaid word.

In the silence of my heart, truths live unsaid,
Alone I stand, my feelings, my thoughts, dead.
Walls of loneliness rise, tearing me apart,
It's the unsaid that shows the true art of the heart.
