A poetic tribute to a lost love
Like a Christmas tree angel
on the newly trimmed fir,
it evokes the beauty
of past time with her.

The vibrant young cardinal
on the feeder outside
brings tears to my eyes
as I think of my bride.

We'd celebrate winter
with treks through the snow,
devouring the beauty
of the birds she loved so.

A shared love for wildlife
and nature's paintbrush,
a passionate union that
disappeared in a rush.

They said it was normal.
It would just go away.
But life isn't perfect,
and the rainbow turned gray.

She left me in August
a few years ago.
But she'll always be with me
through sun, rain, and snow.

As I watch the cardinal
and a foraging deer,
my love stands beside me
like she's always been here.
