A Tudor Lyric: stanzaic, 2 stresses & 4 syllables per line. rhymed, aaabcccb dddefffe etc.
My mind is dry,
as is my eye,
but time is nigh
to pen a rhyme.
So I must write
a piece tonight,
'fore morning light
steals quiet time.

I need a drink
to help me think.
I'm on the brink
of blanking out.
I've lost the glow.
My mind is slow.
A cup of joe
might quench this drought.

Another day
I might not stray.
I'd find a way
to make it work.
But mental block
has stopped my clock.
Must take a walk
or go berserk.

The brisk night air
might light a flair
and take me there,
that magic place
where nature's muse
might light my fuse
and share her views
with warm embrace.

So I will write
a piece tonight
that's clean and bright
like none before.
And I will train
my tired brain,
unplug the drain,
and shoot to score.
