A poem about new beginnings
I stride into open, not empty spaces
Full of unfamiliar smiles and frowns
Regret fades like the memory of sad faces
I forget those angry and bitter sounds

I woke with a space next to me
A hole like only death can bring
But through the windows, I could see
The sun shines and birds sing

This silence is not desolate
This peace feels like the end of war
The light on my face makes me feel great
My spirit begins to soar
