But it isn't April yet
April showers bring May flowers
But it isn't April yet
I've been waiting on the rain for hours
What flowers will I get?

I'll go and visit the botanist, maybe she'll have something for me!
"The flowers haven't bloomed yet dear, maybe come try to come back this spring."
And when I did, the shop had closed. I began to grow upset.
I waited just like she told me to, and the flowers hadn't grown yet.

So I waited until next spring to find some flowers on my own
But while I had frolicked, I noticed only one flower had grown
I bent down to see, and it was a beautiful white carnation
To whom could this only flower be in relation?

I could not find the answer here, I knew that for sure
All I knew was that mother had taught me this flower was pure
"It is a symbol of innocence and sweet love," she'd tell me
"Because love should feel just like that: innocent and freeing."

Where could I find the person that this flower had symbolized?
I pondered on this for a while, yet no one came to mind
I couldn't stop thinking about it, not for a split second
Did I happen to know this person? Probably not, I reckoned

(to be continued, still thinking of things to add!)
