we never really had the best relationship.
Chalk on the sidewalk
Blankets shared on an air mattress
My hair
Your fingers
One strand over the other, rhythmic

Would you braid my hair everyday?

Secrets shared
Whispers exchanged
Sisterhood passed from ear to ear

But outdated gossip can’t hold us together
I’ve learned how to braid my hair
And you’ve become someone else

Sisterhood drowned in the sea of change
