Simple musings
Sweet Illusion

Mist swamps the horizon,
Thickening with each inch,
Every centimeter
Drawing to a close
At the centerfold.

Swirling, tumbling
In ecstatic measures,
Screens of white mist
Cloud tall evergreens
And surrounding foliage.

Arms, stretched out and falling,
Reaching towards the centre,
Reaching towards a figure
Covered in mist,
Standing, unseeing.

Falling, fallen,
Confused and stricken.
The figure is no longer there
But for the surrounding mist,
Residing above.

The mist, mocking, twirling,
Covering up
What the eye wants to see
And instead, showing what
The heart cannot bear.

Night folds over
The mischievous ivory screens,
Guided by the hand
To Her loving embrace
To wait for another day.
