A poem about a Christian experience.
AND PRAY

I had a dream about the Church the other day.
I saw places where workers were few,
So I asked God, "What shall I do?"
He said, "Kneel and pray."

I dreamed about a friend who had a need that day.
Words of comfort seemed inadequate and bland.
Then God said, "Hold her by the hand
And sit and pray."

In my dream I saw members fight and turn away.
I had words that chastise and rebuke to say,
But God would not allow me to hold sway.
He said, "First, just stand and pray."

I sought a vision of the Christian Way
That would make the Church's path all struggle-free,
But God said, "The end, you're not allowed to see.
You must wait and pray."

I longed for knowledge to light my way,
And revelation to rise above the fray.
In my dream I saw the arrogance of such a way,
And heard His words: "Study and pray."

I saw the mission field, white and ripe for harvest day.
I thought, "This dream rings clear and calls me like a chime."
God replied, "This is no dream, this is the time.
Now go and pray."
