we loved only as friends could love
We were friends
And we loved only as friends could love.
We loved with our souls.
When we parted, we were torn
Each with our own private rage.
Our souls were ripped asunder
Never to join or become whole
Ever again

I still love her
But I can never choose to be with her
Ever again.

23 Feb 2002 - revised second line of last verse from "But I will never choose to be with her" to "But I can never choose to be with her"

It is more truthful to the situation ... it is true I "will" never choose ... but it is also true she won't let me make that choice .... So this correction is a more accurate reflection of the situation where the original was an accurate statement from my pride.
