Sometimes I am just too busy...

TAKING THE TIME

Sometimes I am just too busy
To stop and say "hello"
For life demands attention
And off to work I go.

Giving others the precious time
I need to give to you -
My family - will still be there -
(At least I hope that's true!)

I don't get to see them
As often as I would like
It seems when work is done
I call it another night.

Grandchildren have grown
In the blinking of my eye;
I've let their growing years
Somehow pass me by.

Now life has its priorities;
We have to earn every dime!
My family, friends must know
It's taking all my time!

I miss so much of family life,
The smiles and tears they shed;
Then I read in the morning paper
That another friend is dead.

I live just around the corner,
It's not too very far at all;
If I could just take the time
To see them or just to call..

I need to take the time to love,
And have the chance to know
The blessings of friends and family,
To let my feelings show.
