I wrote this when i was sixteen...about my first love and first betrayal
So many nights I laid awake.
So many nights I dreamed,
until it finally happened,
though unreal as it had seemed.
I found a love so real, so true,
and things were once at peace.
In love there was no bitterness.
In love there was release.
But whispers crept into my mind,
driving me insane...
what were these lies left to unfold,
tearing through your name?
So I shut them out and turned away
in loving left undone,
lived through your lies with trusting eyes,
for I loved but love was shunned.
What is this icy heartache?
What is this harsh release?
Afraid to let you go,
so near this perfect peace,
until these whispers still so loud
no longer were denied,
by foul disturbed dishonesty
I found the perfect lie.
