Saying goodbye to a parent is difficult.
Goodbye
by Vivian Gilbert Zabel

I sit, a woman long past her youth,
Yet, I cry deep inside like a child
Begging her mother not to leave.
She lies, her mind alive and knowing
Within the prison of her broken body,
Pleading to be set free.
I must let her go,
And I tell her so,
Hiding the little girl
I do long to be.
I cannot be the weight
That chains her to this world.
