A SAVAGE SPRING

Cold the wind and cold the words
That freeze my hands, tears my heart;
A savage spring, where no kindness
Is bestowed; and I am torn apart.

Strong trees bend beneath the power
Of the savage force of air;
Uprooted are the tender, torn from earth,
Left lying, dying, there.

Spring has lost its beauty,
As destruction takes its toll on me;
By one who cuts with savage words
And makes my life a mockery.

Strong women bend beneath the power
Of the savage force of air;
Uprooted are the tender, torn from earth,
Left lying, dying, there.
