Many things shape who we are. Sometimes that 'me' is our own worst enemy.
Emotions

Like a steam train
slowly gathering pace
I can feel anger
pumping through my veins.

I close my eyes
to shut out the light
longing to be by myself
when the day turns to night.

No one can touch me
when I am alone in my head.
If you go a step too far
all my emotions run dead.

Don't come too close
surely you read the signs
my heart will not be broken
and so I have drawn the lines.

A five foot wall
of iron, concrete and steel
is what I have built around me
so that my illusions never keel.

But should you manage to unravel
the mystery of my potion
you may thus open the door
to reveal my human emotions.

For deep down I am lonely
and longing to share
with that one special person -
step closer if you dare.

I need someone to show me
the thing that they call love.
Unselfish, gentle and utterly faithful
is the love that I dream of.

Are you here for the long run
can I forever call you mine?
Will you provide me with safety and love
or am I just wasting time?

I long one day to let in the light
that will brighten up my day
so help me deal with my emotions
someone - hear my plight.
