read it to find out
Time slips past us without knowing what we missed
what was here yesterday is gone tomorrow
bright smiles turn to wrinkled frowns overnight
or so it seems to one who walks asleep
are we all sleeping inside, waiting
following our daily routines, not knowing
what is real and what is the dream
slaving every day at the same thing
or the peace we find when we lie down

there is beauty everywhere around us
how many of us have the eyes to see
we may be ugly outside, but our insides shine
the heat of our being makes waves in the air
we the scarred are blinding in our complexity
look into our eyes and tell us what you see
without words you blink and turn away sobbing
the depths of love there can never be fathomed

eyes following our every move, we are noticed
not for our disfigurements or lacks
but for the waves we make as we pass
with love this full how can we not be seen
it is unthinkable that we could be passed by
just look into my eyes and you will see
love staring back at you
