A poem I wrote while thinking of my past.
Beating like the sound of a drum,
My head is becoming numb.
What has happened to my life?
What has caused all of this strife?
I try so hard to be pure and strong.
But deep inside, I know I’m wrong.
I see right through the walls I make,
As if they’re windows I long to break.
I struggle to see what’s become of me.
I gaze out on the open sea,
That is life, and now I understand.
As the Lord takes my hand,
I know I have to change my ways,
Stop acting in the world’s foolish plays.
I need to be obedient to my Lord’s will.
My heart is fluttering, beating still.
I begin to hold my head up high,
Raise my hands up to the sky,
And worship with my voice so clear,
Loud, for all the world to hear.
Now I know what has happened to my life.
I know the reason for this strife.
It’s all because of his great will.
My heart is fluttering, beating still.
