Originally meant to be set to music, this is a poem about illusions of love.
Not Really Real?

My imagination plays tricks on me,
Sometimes I see things that just can't be!
I see a man filled with goodness and grace,
Handsome and true, his heart in the right place.

Chorus

But it can't be, he's too perfect to be real.
It can't be, though I can’t help but feel…
NO!
It's all imagination, created in my mind.
I can't believe I didn't dream it up.
He's not real!

Just imagination, still it feels so real,
a picture I can touch,
and I need him, oh!, so much,
but he's not real!

End Chorus

Created in my heart from the pattern you became,
He has your face, he has your name,
But it can't be you! And he's not real!

I must remind myself sometimes
that you aren't the HE I love,
and though he looks like you,
and talks like you, and smiles like you,
I must remind myself THAT....

Chorus

I see you and I hope,
And though I see no flaws,
I know I simply must have been deceived.
You seem to be he, and I want so to believe.
But you can't be the one I love,
Perfect men just don't exist!

It can't be, though I can’t help but feel…
NO!
It's all imagination, created in my mind.
I can't believe I didn't dream it up.

It's just imagination, still it feels so real,
a picture I can touch,
and I need him, oh!, so much,
But Can it be?
