A poem about the brief space of time just before death.
Can you hear me standing here?
Softly breathing, ever near
Watching for some sign of sight
Conscious thought, a will for life
Should I let you slip away?
Before I have the words to say
How much you mean to me.
Your presence overcomes my fears
Your strength holds back the pain and tears
This room holds more than sheets and stone
Your soul tells me I'm not alone
This small reprieve before you go
Blessed time for truths unknown
Always you'll be ever near, the shining star
Of every tear
Too soon you'll go, this much I fear
All the things I should have said
All the things I said instead
Won't be enough to hold you just once more
Angel, can you hear me?
