MOTHER EARTH

The essence of rain was in the air,
Chilling my body to the bone;
The lake appeared a cobalt blue
Rippling with a life of its own.

How long can the land endure
The ravages of natures' curse?
The ebb and tide will wash away
The beauty of our mother earth.

For a balance of the sun and rain
Gives life to all who breathe;
Without the sun there is no one
Who doesn't pause to grieve.
