dealing with my parent's divorce after their 36 years of marriage & family
The marriage is dead
without a will
leaving angry survivors bickering
picking over
inheritance of loyalty owed
and broken people weapons
in a war to settle
what was ours into mine.
Memories sold,
red flags fluttering
a past full of us
broken into them:
history traded for one person’s
happiness,
another’s cherished spite.
Silent
the children walk away,
organs transplanted
in hope of life somewhere else,
leaving a shell
of a family now lifeless.
