A rather dark poem written in a time of depression and anger
A Cry For Help

Stretching past a hazy nimbus
Comes deep, resonating light,
Searing, blinding sound
Tearing from me tattered shreds
Of my only shield from pain
Emotionless uncaring

I glare upward from my pit
Defiant, accusing fire
Lighting my eyes and thoughts
Until I see beyond the gloom
To where you await
Arms open in offering
Of the soothing warmth
Arising from loving console

I struggle to reach out to you
Revolted by my former thoughts of hate
Wading through oceans and jungles
Of fears, doubts, distrust
Finally, my outstretched fingers
Lightly brush 'gainst yours
Suddenly

Torn away
Once more all alone
To sit
And flounder
In a world of sober despair
