Mortality Defiled

Such a silent boy being beaten up inside by himself
You'd think he'd set it all aside, put it on the shelf

He can't quite seem to ignore the voice screaming inside
Screaming for something to break and make it bonafide

There's a pounding that is not his heart beating within
No, now there's a noise that speaks to him like sin

Telling him of all the joys he can find through this Hell
And with no angels to save his grace he might as well

Such a tiny seed that grows in to the most amazing tree
And it has taken root in him for the rest of eternity

All he needs is something to kill the pain he feels each day
But it's not going to happen, not without a dreadful pay

His only escape was so calculated by the worst evil he knows
It will soon leave him a soulless wreck, and it already shows

Oh it's a hard work trying to decipher his own morals and deeds
Understanding and compassion are really his only needs

He looks to any salvation he can find and only loses more
He finds himself in a darker place than he was before

Child, child with nothing left inside but a void of pure hate
Dear sweet morsel of redemption has been given a horrid fate

Well I guess it's the story any demon would tell you
But did you know for most us mortals it's just as true?
