What if emotions of absence became creatures? What wretched shadows we'd create.
Remorse

While they sit and wait,
The blood rots, cold and frozen.
The life that could have been,
And all the memories
Not yet fulfilled.
From the disgust and from the filth,
Drift wisps that were leftover.
The only thing to save them
Is to get others to avenge
The lost opportunities, the mistakes,
So long ago set down.
And the wise laugh at
The irony
Of a fool trying to save a fool,
The ignorant trying to convince the hopeless,
Begging and scratching at doors,
Screaming at deaf ears.
It’s what they think will save them,
What they think will make them whole.
But they all know the truth,
The awful truth.
That the soul is forever dying,
Forever crying underneath,
The everlasting shadow,
Remorse.
