Written while escaping an abusive relationship. Rain=Pain.
Read these words and feel my pain,
It drowns my heart like pouring rain.
Saturates my soul, until my emotions flood.
Deep wounds you caused, it pours like blood.
Will there be lightning, like the blows you strike?
Thunder, like the piercing screams you like?
Will the warm sun shine again tomorrow?
To dry the rain, to heal the sorrow.
Or will it slow to a gentle shower,
And leave me stronger, filled with power?
Just sprinkle, like tears that fall from my eyes?
A gentle breeze blows and the dampness dries.
Can I make it through another dreary day?
Not drown in the hurtful things you say?
Will I live through all the violent storms?
Will I last until a rainbow forms?
Someone, help me please, stop the rain.
Before my heart is forever slain.
