Glory of defending one's country versus the actual feelings displayed
The crowds cheered as the soldiers's ship emerged.
"They are back!", they screamed.
Unaware.

The villagers stamped their feet, crackers in their hands.
Waiting, for the moment to arrive.
Ignorant.

Soon, the ship was anchored on shore.
And then, only did they fall still.
Silent.

Limb less, bandaged men trudged to shore.
All the while gazing down.
Sad.

The crowd continued to stare in shock.
This was not them. Could not be.
Impossible.

For they were so happy before.
Defending their country.
Fools.
