A poem I wrote on a 'down' day.
The Raven

With my soul the raven flew
across the darkened sky,
An empty shell
I was left behind
Without will, hope or joy
I began to cry.

Naked
Empty, lost and scared
I followed the sunset far.

There is no place for me
Within this world
I belong
Somewhere
Mysterious.

A secret place where souls are kept,
And dreams are cherished too.
That’s the place he’s taken it
The soul
I search for.

Nights are endless.
Days no more.
The stars call my name.

Without my soul how can I answer?
Without my soul
I know not
Who I am.

When life has slowed and
Time has ceased
And death has drawn my breath
Will that raven
Return the piece
That once had made me whole?
