For every guy I've ever known-you all have it in you.
He drives the three mile parkway just to miss the traffic lights
It takes him past his only turn, and he doesn't mind the extra drive
but he thinks he's missing all the thoughts lying too close to the outside
He's pushing all his limits just to feel like he got by
without the problems girls he used to talk to brought to mind

it's his life
you don't ask why

Let him go, he's just a man
and the little boy in him thinks he can
everything must be for himself and he doesn't understand
more than independence it's selfishness
but you've got to let him go
he's just a man

He gets to points where all he wants is to escape this lie
He's adding layers daily and he can't accept it's right
But there's never enough to pull him back, never guilt enough to fight
So he keeps his madness lonely and his anger on his side
He loses all he never had, believes he chose to leave behind

it's his life
you don't ask why
