In this little ghost town, nothing seems to move,
No stirring of a creature, no bustling of hooves.
The windows are all open, though no wind does seem to blow,
And through her mind she wonders, ‘where did the people go?’

The swings are left deserted by the innocent of the town,
There are no children laughing, for there are none to make a sound.
The cars need no petrol, from the gas station down the road,
Because there are no people to sit and make them go.

The sun hangs in the sky, but the town still sits in gloom,
The buildings cast an eerie shadow, but stay as a quiet as a tomb.
On a tree, a heart is carved, by two people lost in love,
On the ground lays a toy of a blessing from above.

Beyond the silent noise, are memories and secrets,
The emptiness is deadly here, and that’s the way she’ll keep it.
She never wants to see again the things that she has lost,
For in her soul she knows, how much it all will cost.

In her mind she sees how the town was torn apart,
And wiping a tear away, she knows the ghost town is her heart.
