YESTERDAY'S LOVE

****Heart****

Just an old woman, living alone,
no Valentine cards, no flowers;
Memories of yesterday's love
are all I have to pass the hours.

I can remember when love was new, when
the blush on my face matched the rose
that he offered to me, silently -
and still in my dreams, comes and goes.

I don't often think about loving,
the pain of losing him was too much;
I have our children, and theirs to love,
and I'm happy with that, as such.

As Valentine's Day grows closer,
I get out my cards and my pen -
and I am amazed at today's love
that multiplies again and again!

Yesterday's love is a memory
but today's love is strong and true;
One is forever, one is for now -
and I know that it will surely do!
