My life for the past year
He used to be here
When I needed a friend
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
For hours on the phone
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
With just the right words
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
With a soft touch or a glance
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
My best friend in the world
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
To hold me so tight
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
Even when he was gone
But now he’s not.

He used to be here
But now he’s not
Now he is there when he’s here

He is there
Even when he is here
He is at work….always.

But he used to be here.
