Cancer seems a long and forever disease... but takes a loved one so fast.

After you left, I went out to the fence...
the one that divides the boardwalk and sand.
The fence was all I had to lean on,
for you were now gone.

Not even a day had passed,
and as I put my fingers thru the fence links...
I realized I'd never hold your hand again,
and so I slowly traced each link.

As I remembered you standing right there,
it was a beautiful thought.
One of such loving times,
of memories...
of us leaning there,
of laughing and dancing,
and floating with love.

Stay with me my heart...
our souls will mate again,
there's still more life to come...
someday.

in private, the waiting is lonely,
but a new day is on its way,
and one day I'll meet him again

And so he passed with my whispered words of love in his ear. I felt his last breath... his heart against my heart. In the darkness of a cold and lonely hospital room on July 22, 1998, my love died from colon cancer.
