This is about the man who inspires me to write, Jimi Hendrix.
Ah, what a beautiful sound
This sonic acid trip they call music.
One note and it is clear you are the best.
Play on, while I wrap myself in
The musical manifestation of your soul.
So brilliant. I defy anyone to find
A more complex or ingenious work in history.
If Mozart or Beethoven lived in this time,
They would have bowed to your musical prowess
And striven to recreate your sound.
I try to emulate your passion as I write,
But I fall terribly short.
I draw inspiration from your guitar’s singing,
But my words cannot match the sounds.
Your spirit is so free when you play,
Yet I can see it’s cage when you don’t.
You were lost so young,
Falling prey to your weaknesses.
I shall not forget your gift to me.
Inspiration in a disk, peace in a sound,
And, of course, a high without a pill.
That is why I took you for half my namesake.
