Getting your heart broken when the person you like does not know you exist.
Transluscent

a blur of faces.
lost in the crowd.
too much commotion.
the music's too loud.

curls in my hair.
heels on my shoes.
mascara on my lashes.
my cheeks done with rouge.

you're across the room
among the sea of faces.
so far away
yet no more than ten paces.

i take a deep breath,
puff up my chest,
and feel my heart
jump in my chest.

as i walk over to you
i know what to say,
but you look right through me
with not a glance my way.

i strive for your attention.
call out your name.
but i'm transluscent;
it's always the same.
