This poem is about a dream I had a few nights ago.
Paralyzed--my body seized by affection.
My soul is new and raw, without protection.
I know that you can see my heart within,
Love for you thundering beneath my skin.

The candlelight casts shadows on your face.
Fairy lights surround this place.
In this enchanting world we cannot be viewed,
Shielded by our utopian solitude.

Your shirt untucked, your wilted tie,
The fire swimming in your eyes.
Ten paces away into the dark--maybe more--
But we've never been this close before.

Your pants loosely hanging on your hips.
Breath escapes from between my lips.
For the nearest candle, that breath enough
In a swirl of smoke, the candle snuffed.

Darkness does not hide my rosy chagrin.
Then another puff of smoke adds to the din.
I see you smile, erasing all doubt.
Two twin whispers; two more flames out.

Several breaths later only one candle burns.
My skin tingles for you, itches, yearns.
Through the smoke and darkness our eyes meet.
You erase the space between, feet by feet.

You offer your hand, gesture of a knight.
I reach for yours, sealing our plight.
A moment later our fingertips brush,
Hands rough from labor but the sweetest touch.

A white tiger nuzzles a kitten's head.
Turbulent waves roll up a sandy bed.
Harsh blizzard gales caress smooth stone.
Two hands entwine in our world of our own.

Your chest rumbles with a low hum.
My body chooses for me--I succumb.
Static energy dances from our head to toes.
Your lips touch the tip of my nose.

Your brown ones meet my hazel eyes.
And as we dance, the candle dies.
