Being the best is overrated... do you have what it takes to be the WORST?
Thanks to katherine76 for the wonderful awardicon!

Crimes Against Flash Fiction Logo

Welcome to the contest that dares to be different! Crimes Against Flash Fiction is a weekly contest that challenges you to write badly! And I'm not just talking about your run of the mill, "it needs work" kind of story... I'm talking about stuff that makes you cringe when you read it. I want cliches and plot holes... terrible metaphors and cheesy dialogue. I want stuff so dreadful, you'll hesitate to put your own name on the byline.

And I'll reward you for it! *Bigsmile*

THE PRIZES

1ST PLACE - TRULY HORRIFIC
6,000 GPs

2ND PLACE - EXCEPTIONALLY AWFUL
3,000 GPs

3RD PLACE - PRETTY BAD
1,000 GPs

Depending on how truly atrocious you can make your story, I may also award bonus prizes at my discretion. Merit badges, awardicons, raffle tickets... you never know what you could get if you manage to offend me with your abominable tale!

GROUND RULES

1. Technical writing ability counts. This challenge is meant to test your ability to exploit common conventions of genre, character, narrative, structure, etc. for entertaining effect... I'm not looking for misspelled words or messy presentation. Impress me with your cleverness, not your poor formatting. (Although, this should not be confused with witty spelling or grammatical faux pas, which are encouraged)!

2. Only one entry per person, per round.

3. 800 word limit. Please include a word count with your story.

4. Flash fiction stories only. Please, no poetry or nonfiction.

5. Stories can be of any genre or subject matter. I don't offend easily, so by all means, throw in some gratuitous and unprovoked sex, language or violence if you think it'll make your story even worse! If you do, however, please rate your item appropriately.

6. Every entry will receive a qualifying review and rating. Please note that in recognition of your truly terrible writing, you will be competing for the lowest rating for your item. That's right... strive for that elusive 1.0 rating and embrace your awfulness! *Bigsmile*

7. Entries may be edited up until the deadline. I can't guarantee any changes made after the deadline will be read or considered.

8. Since there has to be some degree of comparison in order to truly be the worst, please note the following award schedule:

1 Entry -- No places / consolation prize
2-3 Entries -- 1st Place only
4-5 Entries -- 1st and 2nd Place only
6+ Entries -- All three places

9. Donations are gladly accepted... and encouraged!

10. Entries must be submitted no later than Sunday night at 11:59pm WDC time. New prompts will be posted on Mondays.
