It's Ian's first town festival with Cassius, and he won't be going home.
Ian scanned the rows of sparkly trinkets that lined the street. It was his first festival with Cassius. He couldn’t believe that only a few months ago, he came to Cassius with the intention to kill him. Ian laid his eyes upon a shimmering red rock and smiled. The stone had the same sparkle the vampire's eyes had. He was about to move onto the next stand when a familiar soft voice sounded from behind him, “Ian?”

He froze and turned around to see the green eyes he had parted with months ago, “Seraphine?”

Seraphine's eyes became glassy as she rushed at Ian and wrapped her arms around him, “Oh, Ian. We all thought you had died when we lost all contact with you.”

He hesitantly patted her head and gently pushed her off of him, “What are you doing here?”

“Ah! I came to complete your mission but we need to get you out of here first.” She grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the alley. He pulled his wrist out of her grasp, causing her to turn around with a questioning look, “Ian?”

He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, “I can’t go back with you…”

Her eyes widened as she stammered out, “W-what… Why?”

Ian looked at her with a small smile, “I’m… dating Cassius.”

“What?! Cassius, as in, the murderous vampire, Cassius?”

He nodded, “That’s why I can’t go back with you.”

Seraphine narrowed her eyes. She marched over to Ian and hit a pressure point in his neck, knocking him unconscious. She caught him as he fell and whispered into his ear, “I’m sorry Ian. You are in danger here. Vampires are all the same.” Seraphine threw him over her shoulder and disappeared into the darkness of the alleyway.
