my blog...
It is hard to say what may transpire. Hind sight is always at least 20/20. Why worry about tomorrow? Today transfixes me and yesterday mesmerizes me.

Why set up a blog? Because I like to talk. Or, as others may say, I like to rant. And rave. *Bigsmile* Sadly, there is a very limited amount of people who are willing to sit and listen to me. *Frown* This can lead to some sad and frustrating conversations with...well, myself. So, for the sake of my sanity as well as everyone else's, I have decided to join the blogging fun and become a blogger myself!

What will you find here? Insane ramblings most likely. Some may actually be amusing depending on your humor. I may blog about new things I've discovered (some may actually be new while others may only be new to me; so, bear with me there). Things that annoy, irk, upset, tickle, fascinate, etc. me and every thing in the world is (are?) subject to blogging.

Disclaimer: Shouldn't everything pertaining to personal opinion have one?
I really like to talk about things that upset me or that I don't understand (often the same topic *Bigsmile*). Generally, these topics are controversial to say the least. If you have a problem with my viewpoints, that's fine. But don't yell at me for it. This is my blog and I am entitled to my own opinions! No one is forcing you to read so, just walk away. I do not tolerate yelling at me. I don't like it; don't do it! If you're afraid of being insulted or offended and can't tolerate being debated then just don't start anything. That said, I probably won't say anything to offend or insult; but, we must err on the side of caution!

Okay, now I have nothing left to blog about!! *Laugh* Well, feel free to check me out...uh, erm...I mean my blog and port. *Bigsmile* Catcha around!

For those of you who don't know, I live in Michigan. So it can get pretty cold and we usually start getting snow in October/November. Well... We just got our first snow today. Okay, well sort of yesterday. It started snowing last night. *Rolleyes* Anyway. There was snow on the cars when I got home last night (around 12) but not on the ground. Well, there's snow on the ground this morning. I'm kinda excited. As long as it doesn't mess the roads up (too much), I enjoy the snow. It's so pretty!

Anyway. It was weird. It was flurrying a little bit on my way home. The road was just wet. It's a fairly heavily traveled highway, so the cars were keeping the snow off the road. Nonetheless, I got behind a sand/salt truck. *rolleye* So, he's dropping sand/salt on a wet road and I am kicking it up all over the bottom of my car!!! It kept pinging in a most annoying manner. *Angry* So I get into town and nothing there is salted and the snow is starting to stick after the rest of it melted and froze into ice. *exasperated sigh* So I started sliding just a little bit around the one corner and then I had trouble getting started at the light. I got stopped no problem, but then I couldn't get the traction I needed to go! *Laugh* But they salted the highway. Go figure.

Anyway. I had a nice 4 day weekend last week and I have tonight off too! *Blush* Two full weeks then another 4 day weekend followed by a 3 day weekend!

You have to love the holidays!

I'm driving, okay? So, I'm noticing that the gas stations have jacked up their prices yet again. The station where I usually get gas hasn't changed their prices yet. I just filled up on Thursday, so I still have two-thirds of a tank and I don't really have time to stop and I don't feel like filling up anyway, but I figure if it's still $2.40 when I come home, I'll definitely stop.

I'm on my way home, and the gas station is advertising their gas at $2.65. *Shock*

I knew I should have stopped earlier! Hopefully, the price will come back down towards the end of the week, but it's doubtful.

I can't understand these $0.25 jumps in a few hours. That's more than a 10% hike. It's ridiculous. It's uncalled for. *Angry* It's unbelievable.

Wal-Mart was still $2.49, but their station isn't open this late. Their pumps are absurdly slow too.

Anyway. I find it most vexing.

Okay, so I checked the movie theater's website about a month ago and it said that they were going to be showing "Nightmare Before Christmas" in real3D starting October 23rd (which would be tomorrow. So, I go on to see what time it will be airing now that the date is upon us! "Nightmare Before Christmas 3D" has become something of a tradition with my sister and me. Except last year they didn't show it, which positively crushed me. I've been looking forward to it for a month. Things haven't been going so well at work and I am really looking forward to this distraction. I've got it all planned out!

They aren't showing it this year either. *Cry*

Jerks.

Okay, so I haven't been working here that long, but I still deserve a day off! It's been crazy, albeit slow (though the slowness is partially why I could really use a day off!). Well, the supervisor offered a day off and who am I to refuse? *Bigsmile*

Here's to 3 day weekends!

Don't you wish we had more of them? I sure do. I'd be happy working 4 days instead of 5 if they'd let me... Oh well. I'll take what I can get!

Well, my eldest half sister and her kids (plus one extra nephew - half sister #2 had her baby a week ago Friday, so Tammy brought her son along to give her a break) came up on Saturday. They wanted to go apple picking.

I guess they don't have apple orchards in Indiana.

Anyway. The last time they were up was... Let's see... Christmas '07.

So, my 9 year old niece and I are sitting on the couch and she points to the corner and says, "The last time I was here there was a Christmas tree in that corner. The last two times I was here there was a Christmas tree there."

"Well," I'm not entirely sure where this is going so I decide to take the straight route, "last time you were here it was Christmas."

I'm mentally rolling my eyes and trying to figure out what all this is about.

She counters with, "It'll be Christmas in three months."

"Uh... Yeah, it will."

I mean, did she really expect the Christmas tree to be up in September? Seriously?

Later, I heard her talking to her mom and she said, "Only five more days and I get to start Christmas shopping!"

I have never seen a kid so obsessed with Christmas that they started their planning in September!

Insanity. I never worried about Christmas until December. Granted, I would pick up presents all through the year if I saw something that I knew someone would like and it was on sale or something... But, still. That's a little different. As a kid, I never thought about Christmas until December. There was always lots of other stuff to plan. Like Halloween.

I've always loved Halloween. Of course, Tammy's kids don't celebrate Halloween because it is the devil's holiday.

*Rolleyes*

I could go on and on. I mean, she (Tammy) talks about making sure the kids get enough protein, so what does she feed the 2 year old boys? Three bites of hamburger, a bunch of potato chips, and donuts.

Now, if you recall, I'm a vegetarian. So, I'm greatly opposed to telling the kids they need their protein and then feeding them little more than meat. Seriously, it's like their all on some wacked out version of the Atkin's diet. I've never seen such a meat-centric diet. Meat and peanut butter. They have peanut butter and honey sandwiches for lunch every day. She obviously doesn't realize that they also need other vitamins and minerals. There's more than one food group. They should have fruits and vegetables and whole grains too.

I just don't get it and it bothers me every time we all eat together. Not to mention the fact that the two older kids can put two and two together. I mean, their mom tells them they have to eat their meat for protein but their aunt never eats meat.

Ugh. I don't know. I just find it all bizarre.

I took the assessment tests on Tuesday, they called me for an interview yesterday, I had the interview today at 10, I left at 11, and they just called me (about 3) to offer me the job! Talk about good first impressions. I interviewed with two people and they both agreed that it went really well and they should hire me! I start Monday, September 21.

Months of nothing and now this whirlwind.

Funny thing is, I got a call Aug. 27, and made an appointment for the assessments for the 28th and they called me just before I left and canceled the assessments due to a contract fall out.

So, I called HR and asked a few questions. Then, they called me back with another position.

I guess it was just meant to be!

GAAHHHH!!!! *Angry*

My heart is racing. I'm so.... *Angry*

What is wrong with people? Seriously!

They give these two bit pointless "reviews" for the points or whatever and give no thought whatsoever to the author.

You give a piece an average rating (fine if substantiated) and then make the following comments:
This form is difficult
The idea is clever
The sentences are short

And..... *Confused*

So, I reply. I need more. It's a newbie, so I figure he doesn't know better. So, I give him a link to Guidelines for Great Reviewing (it's my bible).

He flies off the handle!

"I don't give "checkbox" or "template" reviews. Long or short, I put down what I feel."

It's like, dude, so what? You felt nothing? You don't care? You're just pissed because I called you out on your shoddy reviewing skills?

"New or not, I've been around the internet a time or two for my age..."

Ancient codger. Doesn't even have an opinion.

Reminds me of Lucy, from Peanuts.

"I know when I've been insulted! I know when I've been insulted!" Running around like an idiotic chicken with his head cut off, no clue as to the world around him.

Doofus.

*Angry*

Idiot doesn't even know how to reply to an e-mail. He keeps sending new ones instead of responding directly.

As in catching up, not the stuff you put on fries. *Pthb* *Bigsmile*

Well, my birthday is tomorrow. *Pthb* I always greet it with hesitance and reservation. And why does it always come so soon? Shouldn't there be more time in between?

Furthermore, I went to the mall last week (to redeem a free b-day gift from Sephora, free stuff is always a great b-day perk). Anyway, the Hallmark store was all decked out for Halloween. *Shock*

It's AUGUST! Why is there Halloween displays up? SERIOUSLY. It's absurd.

Last time I checked, Halloween was at the end of October, not August. Do we really need more than two months of Halloween shopping? I mean, what is it Christmas?

Oh, and you know that's next. I swear they skipped Halloween last year and went straight to Christmas. *Rolleyes*

But seriously, the kids are getting their back to school stuff around and their parents are buying all the Halloween stuff at the same time? Really? Couldn't they at least wait till after Labor Day?

Ugh. I'm just disgusted about the whole thing. Do you really want people stocking up on Halloween candy in August? Are there so many preservatives that it'll still be good by Halloween? Yes, probably, which is scary in and of itself. But still.

Is it the economy? The resurgence of lay-a-way shopping? Give them two months and they'll buy more?

But really, who wants to shop for Halloween in AUGUST?

Way too soon. I don't even want to think about fall, let alone Halloween. They'll probably start Christmas on Labor Day. *Rolleyes*

What is this world coming to?

Anyway. I'll be gone most of the week (if not all of it) depending on how things go. 5 am is gonna come quick, so I guess I best be getting stuff around for tomorrow and think about getting some sleep.

For no reason at all, I stood a nickle that was lying on the desk on edge. No particular reason. I find myself smiling just looking at the nickle on edge. Something about conquering physics or something. *Laugh*

So, there's a penny there too. Not to leave it out, I stand it on edge. It's a more difficult task. In case you hadn't noticed, nickles are thicker than pennies. The nickle is still upright, but the penny has fallen over. After a little back and forth, I set the penny upright. But it fell over again. Now I'm having trouble getting it to stand on edge at all! The stupid thing is, it's driving me crazy that I can't get the penny on edge! *Laugh*

In my attempts, I knocked the nickle over. *Rolleyes* It righted quickly. It took some doing, but I managed to get the penny back on edge. Now, nobody move!!! *Laugh*

My mind is a strange place.

If you want help with a project, do you hand it to someone then walk away?

Do you expect people to know exactly what you want them to do without telling them what to do?

Do you hire someone and then expect them to automatically know all your rules and norms and magically be the perfect employee/team member without any sort of introductory period?

No.

Do you know anyone who uses singular pronouns but expects everyone to know that, when I say I, I mean we?

If you tell me you have to do something but you want me to go over it, what am I supposed to assume that means?

What do you think that means?

Go over their work for errors, inconsistencies, point out weak spots, etc.?

That's what I thought it meant.

I was wrong. When I was told to go over a story with someone after she rewrote it, what I was supposed to do was to rewrite it.

Not edit it. Rewrite it. Why would I automatically rewrite someone else's stuff, especially after another someone already rewrote it?

If I get in trouble for this post, that's fine by me. I'm not a mind reader. Anyone who expects me to be a mind reader can go to the devil. I really don't care. I'm sick to death of working with inferior intellects, uncommunicative boobs, and jerks.

What is wrong with people?

One in particular, the senior editor at the company I was doing edits for. Was, as in, until yesterday. Apparently, the viper's been telling all sorts of things to the owner. All sorts of lies. I mean, what the hell? She told her I was arguing with her, when I've been nothing but pleasant and genial. They didn't even give me a chance. I start in April, now they're saying I haven't improved enough. I've had 2 projects and was supposed to have received training. I didn't receive training. Now they're saying I didn't do things that they say I was supposed to but they never told me I was supposed to... *Angry* I shouldn't have responded immediately, but I couldn't help myself; I was so incensed.

Why would she lie like that?

I'm angry. I'm upset. I could scream. I feel like crying.

I just... I just... ugh. I just don't know.

Why is it, when I'm waiting to go somewhere I always check my e-mail? Inevitably, I get an e-mail which upsets me. (Today it was two-fold, my oldest sister and the company I do edits for.) Then I'm upset for the rest of the day! I was all good and ready to go. Then my pulse was racing. Now I just want to go back to bed!

It seems like no matter what I do, I keep getting these scams in my inbox!

Usually it's the Nigeria ones, where someone's trying to move money and they want you to open a back account for them and then they'll give you a cool mil of the 10 mil they're moving. Something like that.

Yesterday, I got a "job offer." It was more of a heads up, I thought, then a genuine offer. You know the kind?

Anyway. I decided it wouldn't hurt to get some more info. It sounded more or less legit. Well, I'm know thinking it's very not legit.

This company (Riddick-Designs) wants to open in the US. So, they want you to start a LLC or sole proprietorship in your state and set up a bank account for them (to get around heavy taxation in their country). The compensation? 5% of the revenue generated by the website, which you will monitor, along with monitoring the bank account.

Not only does it sound fishy, it also doesn't sound legal. Or, at any rate, jumping through all the hoops to make it not illegal.

If I set up something like that to get people to give me money, I'd get caught and thrown away.

On the other hand, I don't think they're asking for money. Your investment doesn't go to them but your own Secretary of State for setting up the business...

Anyone really know anything about it?

I'm torn between looking for the good (you can call it being naive if you want! *Pthb*) and being optimistic versus being jaded and cynical.

My car gets damaged by the storm (still in the shop). A friend of the family passed away. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson all follow. *Confused*

What's going on???

Is it just that we have lots more people so that lots more have to pass? or do they just all decide to go at once?

Would you sign someone on to assist you and then keep putting them off?

What does that achieve?

Kelly signed me on to CWP to help with editing. I'm working with the senior editor, Erin. Erin sent me the first project in April. I've been done for eons, waiting on Erin. Now, something new's come up that takes precedence. But, she won't send me the new project. We can't finish the first project until the second project is done and I can't work on the second project until she sends it to me! I haven't heard from her in a couple of weeks, so I e-mailed her. I don't want her to forget about me!

Her e-mail sounded terse and was full of excuses. I'm supposed to be helping her. How can I do that if she won't work with me? In May, she said June would be better. She was supposed to be "all mine" the second week of June. What happened with that? We're never going to get anything done at this rate!

It's just so frustrating.
